Fossil Fools Day; it’s a bit different than all the other ones. The day moves away from the usual culprits of climate crime, and goes on a crime-tracking chase of dirty grime, taking prisoners along the way. In London, Ontario the prisoner was RBC and unfortunately for some commuters, regular city traffic. I put together a little video of the bicycling memories. You can check out the national campaign to vote a fossil fool of the year; be sure to check out the lovely videos, featuring four of the finest politicians…

Youth in this country got lucky on April 14, 2010. The Liberal Party of Canada passed a motion on climate change, and the Climate Change Accountability Act was voted to move on to third reading. The Conservative government, on the otherhand, was quick to ignore the fine work of Parliament. I’m sure you don’t need a link to a news story to be as disgusted as I am. It seems no one from the government will be attending the World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth, either.

I don’t have photos, but I have also been travelling around to classrooms in London to collect contact info from people who are signing CYCC’s pledge. The number of people who sign is definitely inspiring; there is a lot of interest in action on climate change.

The picture on the left is from April 1st. On the same day as Fossil Fools Day there was a showcase of environmental science projects and another of engineering projects related to the environment at UWO. A great speaker of note also visited Western on April 7th: Chris Turner. Look out for two events I’m planning in London; one on climate justice, the other on Canada’s international image.

And of course be sure to check out the lovely g20.torontomobilize.org. And for all things Earth Week and events in London: greendrinks-london.blogspot.com.
