This November, representatives from nations around the world will be gathering in Marrakesh, Morocco for the twenty-second session of the United Nations climate change negotiations, also known as COP 22. This is a critical moment in time -- world leaders need to act to show whether the recently created Paris Agreement can have the necessary impact on global emissions. Canada has yet to announce a federal strategy to fight climate change and is trying to reduce emissions and continue to build pipelines -- this isn't possible.
This year, the CYCC will once again send the Canadian Youth Delegation to participate in COP 22. Made up of 17 youth from across the county, we will travel to Marrakesh to hold the Canadian Government accountable to promises for climate action it made during the federal election and during COP21 last year, and we will share our stories with you along the way.
For the duration of COP 22, we will produce a daily email post outlining key news items, updates, and stories from on the ground, with a particular focus on the role of the Canadian Government and civil society action. We hope you will follow us on our journey.
